re:location

Each work in my series, The Breach (2018-2013), represents and incorporates memories of the spaces in which I experienced violence to my person. In sharing the toll of physical, psychological and sexual violence and my struggle to heal, I hope my works evoke wonder and beauty, while also starting a discussion about how confronting such ugly events can lead to change.

When I started this series I wanted to capture the sense of chaos that trauma induces; to show the perspective of the world going sideways; facing what happened; and accepting how those events have shaped me. In the end, these work are more than all that. For me, they show how making art transformed my grief and pain into positive and edifying expressions of the same.
